9/11/2023 0 Comments Electric piezo guitar setup![]() ![]() Would either of these work well? What is the best way to deal with the thickness of the piezo(s) while still allowing the bridge to be flat and stable? Another idea is to get one or two long acoustinc salddle transducers and put them under the bridge. One thought is to use one or two ribbon piezos between the bridge and the guitar. I am wondering what kind of piezo makes sense. (4) The guitar will be equipped with a Gotoh 12 string bridge, which is screwed flat directly to the top of the guitar. Is all of this possible? If so, how do I modify the circuit to make it happen? I would feed power to the unit via a long cord from my pedalboard (perhaps heat shrink it together with the instrument cable). Plus, it would avoid space concerns within the guitars, and I would only have to build the correct electronics one time. That way, I could incorporate similar functionality into other piezo-equipped guitars without having to do lots of guitar routing. (3) With regard to item 2, I would like, if possible, to build the preamp and volume control for the piezo into a separate unit that would clip to my guitar strap, with send and receive TS connectivity to the guitar. Where would these go in the circuit? Does the preamp schematic look right? I would also like to add the last JFET preamp pictured on this page for the piezo. (2) I want to add an independent volume knob for the piezo, to allow me to blend the magnetic and piezo pickups. Does it look correct? Does it matter that my guitar will have two humbuckers instead of one humbucker and a coil? (1) I was thinking of using the second wiring schematic on this page, from Ted Crocker. Since I have never done this before, I have some questions, and was hoping you guys could share your thoughts. So, I would like to incorporate a piezo pickup into my next build. I have limited guitar building and wiring experience, and I am looking to try something interesting and more challenging.
